Chapter Seventeen
"Werewolves are attacking!" One shouted when I and Dy reach the headquarters. I halt, how did they know our hide out?
Instead of feeling scared, I felt excited. Finally some real action! But before I could leap into a room where the weapons held a hand stop me.
I gave a confused look at Dy, "What's the problem?" I ask slightly worried. His face was serious no trace of excitement was within him.
"Let's go to the chambers Di, there you can be safe."
I gaped at him "But this is my chance!" I practically yelled.
Not long before growls were heard around the headquarters. All the members where pack with weapons ready to fight, some sneaked out to ambush them.
But something feared in me, we were outnumbered. There are like a thousand of them when I look into the window. Literally, on their wolf form they surrounded the house.
This is not one pack. This is hundreds of rogue packs joining together, but not only wolves but also vampires.
I smelled something in the air... revenge.
They were craving for revenge.
"Come on Di! I promised your parents that you'll be safe around me!"
I felt myself lifted in the air and unto Dy's arms wrapped around me as he ran to the chambers.
What was I doing?
I can't even move. I was frozen.
The excitement within me vanished into thin arm. As it replaced with fear as I heard the skin ripping, wolves and hunters agonizing screams, growls, the clacking of weapons, the bones cracking, and howls filled the night.
It was terrifying.
And for once I knew what true fear felt like.
Dy laid me down with the group of children within my age that were covering the ears as they silently cried. Some was looking darkly at nothing, like they wanted to fight but couldn't do anything about it, knowing that their efforts will only do a little help.
"Where are you going?" I ask my voice slightly croaked when Dy turn around in an attempt to get out of the chambers.
He smiled at me, and that broke my heart "I promised your parents that I'll take care of you didn't I? And I promised to you that I'll do everything I could to protect you."
He then disappeared in my sight.
Maybe that was the last time I'll ever see that smile again.
"Stupid Dy, I promised to you too," I mumbled and get up. "that we'll always be on each other's back, fighting together."
Little did Dy know I came out of the chamber as well with my own weapon, I found in the chamber, in hand.
Diana's Pov
The dark forest was silent, only the steps of our own were heard. It amaze how students from the other groups made no sound, I honestly thought there will be hollering, shouting, laughter in this night but it came out otherwise.
James thought the same too as he nudge me with his elbow twice.
The flashlight was now hidden on my bag, as the other groups also had a plan on not using it, judging that the forest was... well dark.
Crunch
We stop, and almost immediately, Xavier pulled me behind him in a protective stance as his eyes raked his surroundings.
Crunch
There was the sound again.
Crunch
"Why did we stop?" Someone whispered loudly to us. All of us turned our heads to Mark who had a mouthful of chips, as he chewed the sound echoed again.
Crunch
Crunch
Crunch
I bit my lip preventing myself to laugh when almost everyone glared at Mark still making the crunch noises as he chewed his chips. We continued walking, Xavier slowly placing his arms around my shoulders as he thought I didn't notice and at the corner of my eyes I could see James rolling his eyes.
I heard a paper crumbling, the werewolves might have dismissed it as some litter but having a hunter's instincts, I and James turned our heads to where we heard it. Both of us halted, the rest stopped giving us a puzzled look. It was still dark yet we could vividly see the slight edges of a paper hidden behind a leaf in a low branch.
Walking over there, Xavier's arms still around me as he followed my steps, I tiptoed and grabbed the paper from the branch
Mark snatches the letter from my hands (which I let him). He unfolds it and read out loud "You're one of the groups who were able to find this letter! There are only three letters in the game, so congratulations!" He turned his voice into high pitch at the last part.
Tessa snatches the letter from him and continued "Note, this letter will only give you hints, and one step ahead to those unlucky ones." Then she gave it to Xavier.
Xavier read aloud "You'll find the flag neither on the sky nor on the ground. Search further, it's only just around. Move fast, before it will be found."
Underwater, I thought
"Underwater." James said the same time I spoke that in my mind.
Xavier closed his eyes as everyone kept silent I knew he was concentrating the sound of water flowing, a lake or a river perhaps. When he opened his eyes, he turned his head to the right in which we followed his lead as he speed walked.
-
"I see nothing." Mark said as we were now standing in front of a river.
I rolled my eyes. It's underwater, stupid.
"It's underwater, moron." Xavier snapped with a trace of laughter in the end.
Stepping closer, I examine the water flowing. The flow of the direction was the left. Big rocks, the size of a basketball, and bolder were scattered everywhere. The flowing of the river wasn't really fast, just average.
And the deepness was maybe up to my chin.
Even with the help of the moonlight, I could only see blurry figures of a fish or two. No sign of flags.
My eyes flicker to a spot at the middle, the water level was higher there.
The flag was buried, maybe?
The sound of footsteps across the river alerted me.
"Well, well, well if isn't Xavier." Kent's voice echoed in the silent night. I noticed Declan holding a piece of paper. So they found the letter too.
Melissa on the other hand was looking at Xavier longingly.
These rocks should do the trick you know? Throwing it straight at her eyes before she could even blink, no not to bruise her face, that's too generous of me, but for these pebbles to hit her eyeballs.
Imagine rocks replaced her eyes.
Even despite the blood that leak out on her eyes, I'm willing to get a sharpie and drew circles in the middle as her eyeballs.
Then I snap back away from my psychotic thoughts.
Her eyes landed in me and she glared at me, her glare was a little pitiful, it only made me amused. In return I raised an eyebrow at her.
"Well this is surprising," said Xavier with a smirk. "Didn't thought for you have the brains to solve even the simplest of riddles."
This caused a glared from Kent.
Alphas had a little patience and are short tempered. The only thing that could calm them down were their mates.
Mates...
I look again at Xavier. He's a werewolf. He has someone destined for him.
That little kiss we share? Maybe it's just nothing for him. Him saying he likes me? Maybe it's just a spur in the moment.
His mate was just out there waiting to be found.
Soon enough, after the mission will be completed (if I ever make it out alive) I'll leave the town and continue another mission. I'll be forced to cut ties with him, not just Xavier and to me new found friends.
And with the help of fate, Xavier will soon encounter with his mate. Have babies and live happily ever after.
Forgetting that there was this girl who he took her first kiss, that he was the cause of the ceaseless fluttering butterflies in her stomach, these feelings that she never felt before was caused by him.
A sigh escapes my lips, something churn in my stomach. What was I thinking?
I, Satan's Assassin likes - no loves a werewolf, and an Alpha at that?
Wait 'til Chadler hears this, he'll surely laugh in my face.
Going back to the present after shoving this silly thoughts away from me, I was surprised.
Kent and Xavier were half-naked, their shirts scattered carelessly at the ground as they were ready to dive in the river. My eyes couldn't leave Xavier's body.
Eight packs.
And I only have six.
But damn was he hot.

Title : "All Of Me"
Blurb:
Charlie and Van were best friends. They were inseparable. Two seven year olds sneaking out their houses to meet up at the park at night. Laughing with each other, telling stories at one's lap, secrets shared under the moonlight, and just gazing at the stars. Until that faithful night Charlie didn't show up. And the next night too. He waited and waited for her in the park, hoping she will arrive with the smile he was desperately wanting to see. Soon nights turned to weeks, weeks turned to months. And eventually months turned to years. With an empty heart, he gave up. The question that always hunted his dreams, his mind...
Why?
